Household Support Fund – are you struggling with living costs?

The Household Support Fund was announced by the Government in late autumn to support vulnerable households in need during this winter.


The fund is designed to help ease financial pressures on residents by providing short-term help over the winter period with food, fuel bills and other essentials to those who need it


What help is available?

Help is available towards

  • Food
  • Utilities gas, electricity and water
  • Essentials linked to energy and water such as warm clothing, boiler repair.
  • Essential household appliances such as a cooker, washing machine etc
  • Essential household items such as school uniform, care alarm service, bedding etc


Each organisation will work with you to provide the appropriate support. Most will provide vouchers or purchase essential items for/or with you. Successful applicants will not generally receive a direct payment of money.


What will not be awarded?

Mortgage support will not be awarded. If you are having difficulties with your mortgage payments, contact your lender as soon as possible.


Who can apply?

Applicants must be:

  • a household living in Waverley
  • struggling to pay essential household bills

You can apply by completing the on-line application form below and submitting.

It may take up to up to 5 working days to process an application, depending on what support you need. If a high volume of applications are received, it may not be possible to provide support within this timescale and applications will be processed as soon as possible.

    We need to understand the support you need. As part of the application process, you may be asked to provide evidence to support your application.

    If your application is successful, we will work with you to purchase items from a retail supplier and/or settle bills directly with your gas, electricity and water provider. For food, we will provide supermarket vouchers which will need to be collected from the Town Hall.

    Section 3: DATA PROTECTION

    We will only collect data that is relevant to your application.

    The information you provide on this form will be used by Haslemere Town Council for the purposes of processing your application.

    Your personal information will be processed in line with Data Protection legislation. It will not be disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes.

    We may share your information and make any other necessary enquiries regarding your application with other departments, statutory organisations and local voluntary sector organisations that we are working in partnership with to help us assess your application.

    This authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you have provided on this form for the prevention and detection of fraud.

    It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.

    We will retain your data for as long as it is required for our administrative usage. It will then be securely destroyed.

    We may share with you information on other schemes that may be relevant to you.
